Mid-Week in the City
Ask Questions.Think New. Fear Not.

We invite you to join us on Wednesday nights at 7:00 PM, beginning January 18, 2023 in the Wolfson House.

The universe’s mysteries won’t solve themselves. That’s what questions are for. Questions lead to conversations, and conversations lead to the discovery of God and one another. At Mid-Week in the City, we face these questions head-on. Each week, we gather around tables to eat together and to talk about fear, hope, pain, spirituality, suffering, joy, the future, and much more.

If you have any questions, please contact Megan Langan.

    Mid-Week In The City
    Fall 2020, Spring 2021

Do Christians speak for the trees?
Is caring for the earth part of our calling as Christians? What does Scripture tell us about how we should steward creation? How do we do this without getting caught up in climate politics? Truett Seminary professor Dr. Robert Creech joins us this week to help us answer these questions.

How do we respond when other nations are in crisis?
Jesus told us to love our neighbor, but what does that mean on the international scale? When crises arise in other nations, how should we, as people of faith, respond? Myanmar is in the middle of great turmoil, and it is hitting closer to home than you think. This Wednesday, we’ll learn about what’s happening in the nation of Myanmar, what we can do to help, and why this is impacting our FBCSA community.

    Where is the love?
Love comes in many forms, but our world only seems to focus on romantic love. This week, we'll have a discussion about biblical friendship. What did God design for friendship? How do we find it, and better yet, make it last? Our very own Karen Ivy and Andrea Henderson are helping us find the answers!

    Unity
Join us as we start a new semester of Mid-Week in the City! To kick things off, we’re having a conversation on unity. How to we find it and how do we keep it? How do we respond when our country is divided? How can we work alongside those who are different from us?

How Can We Trust a God That We Cannot See?
If you've ever wrestled with the big questions about God, you're not alone. On this episode, Truett Seminary professor Dr. Roger Olson returns to Mid-Week in the City to help us answer the big questions.

    The Mind, Body, Spirit Connection
If you’ve ever felt like your mind and your body and your spirit are working against each other, you’re not alone. How can you help these three dimensions of you live together peaceably? How can you care for them so that you can be fully yourself? In this episode, physician Blaise Langan and body-centered psychotherapist Ray Wooten join Megan and Bryan for a conversation about how we might live with greater calm and confidence with ourselves and others.

How Can We Rediscover Our Joy?
This year has put us all to the test. At times, it feels like the world has turned upside down. How can we be joyful when so many difficult things are happening? How do we find the joy of Christ amidst suffering? This week Truett Seminary professor and author Dr. Angela Gorrell will help us answer these questions. Let's rediscover our joy together.

How Do I Love My Neighbor? A Conversation About Race and Faith
Jesus commands us to love our neighbor - but what does this mean for us today? How does our faith impact our understanding of race, and how does race impact the way we live out our faith? This week, Malcolm Foley of Baylor University joins us to help us answer these questions.

Where's The Light At The End Of The Tunnel?
Are you experiencing "2020 fatigue?" Wondering when the stress will go away and things will start to look up? You're not alone. This week, our very own Pastor Chris Johnson will be joining us to help us deal with our stress, renew our energy, and find some hope.

How Do We Rediscover Our Worship?
One of the things we miss most this year is coming together for worship. It's more than just singing songs - worshiping God with other believers is a meaningful experience. While we all long for the days where we can gather again, how can we rediscover our worship here and now? How might we deepen our theology of worship beyond singing on Sunday? To help us answer these questions, we will be joined by our very own Worship Pastor, Dr. Aaron Hufty as well as Truett Seminary professor, Dr. Terry York.

What Can A Ennegram Do For Me?
What is the Enneagram and why do people love it so much? What can it do for me? Whether you’re an Enneagram aficionado or you’re thinking “Ennea-what?!” you won’t want to miss this week’s Mid-Week in the City! We will be joined by Beth Stanley, LPC at the Ecumenical Center, who will help us unpack the Enneagram and discover how to use it as a tool for personal growth.
